Swim Smart’s Channel and Long Distance Swim Camp 2022 in Jersey

Whether you are a complete novice, or are about to embark on the greatest challenge of your life in long distance open water swimming, we intend to make your week with us informative, relaxed and fun with the help and advice of knowledgeable, experienced, and successful professionals.

The objectives of the week’s course are not only to improve your stroke technique, fitness and endurance, but to give you a chance to gain your 6 hour solo ratification swim, relay ratification
swim, swimming in the dark ratification and to swim alongside a piloted boat as well as gaining
27 hours' swim time.

Sunday 5th June 2022 - Saturday 11th June 2022




Sunday 5th June
Arrive early afternoon. 15:00 briefing. 16:00 1 hour acclimatisation swim.


Monday 6th June
Meet at 07:45 for 08:00 in the water. 2 hour swim followed by seminar. 15:00 back in the water for another 2 hour swim.


Tuesday 7th June
Meet at 08:00 for 08:30 in the water. 3 hour swim. 15:00 back in the water for another 3 hour swim - 90 mins swim, hour out, 90 mins swim (relay ratification)

Wednesday 8th June
Meet at 07:30 for 07:45 in the water. 6 hour swim (solo ratification)


Thursday 09th June

Meet at 07:30 for 08:45 in the water. 3 hour swim followed by seminar. 

20:30 back in the water for another 1 hour swim.


Friday 10th June
Meet at 08:45 for 09:00 in the water. 3 hour swim. 16:30 back in the water for a 2 hour swim.

Evening rib ride and dip followed by pizza whilst watching sunset.


Saturday 11th June
Meet at 09:00 for 09:30 in the water. 1 hour swim down. Debrief and finish by 12:00.

Your week will consist of up to 27 hours of swimming, plus we will arrange your 1 hour one-to-one session during free time within the week. The swim off the piloted boat will be organised on the Thursday or Friday (weather dependant).


We encourage all swimmers to do as much as possible but we are understanding of all abilities and will adapt as necessary


MyProtein, black tea and fructose feeds will be provided, as well as rubber gloves and Vaseline if required.

Course Fees will cover the following:

  • ‘Goodie bag’ (swim cap, t-shirt, drinks bottle),

  • 27 hours’ swim time with sea swims morning and afternoons and safety cover provided where needed,

  • 1 hour one-to-one individual swim coaching,

  • Swim off piloted boat (Lionheart) to practise swimming next to a boat, feeds and change overs,

  • Seminars on nutrition and training,

  • Transport to swim venues where possible,

  • CNP swim feeds,

  • Spot prizes during the week as well as swim ratification certificates.

(Sea temperatures are generally 13 – 15.5 degrees celsius at this time of the year, so please bring warm clothes!)
